We have made a pom pom with additional fabrics in such as lace, string – which is just wrapped around the pom pom making ring in the usual way as you wrap standard wool. But just adding 1 layer. You can keep your pom pom basic by just using wool.

You will need:

  • Wool
  • PomPom Making Rings (ebay)
  • Wooden Pegs or craft peg dolls
  • Acrylic Paint for the face and feet
  • Glitter paint
  • Button for details
  • Paper wings or Skeleton leaves for wings
  • Low melt Glue Gun

Paint the face, hair, bodice and little feet of the fairy on the wooden peg. Peg it onto a cup to dry.

Make your PomPom, ensuring that, once you have finished it, to pop the wooden peg into the centre before you take it off the ring and tie it off. So you are tying the Pom Pom onto the peg. We place a small blob of glue under the pom pom and above it, on the peg, just to secure it in place.

Finally, add skeleton leaf wings, buttons, glitter and tiny embellishments to finish your Pom Pom Fairy off. Glue some hessian ribbon to the back so that you can hang it on your tree!
