Wand Making Craft for Children

The Harry Potter craze has had a huge impact in our house. My eldest loves all things Harry Potter, and I have to admit as do I! These handmade Magic Wands are easy to make and so effective.

We used standard garden cane for our wands but you can use nobbly sticks or chop sticks.

Cut your cane or stick to the length to a suitable size. Then, being very careful, use a glue gun to draw a pattern on to the stick. Add patterns and nobbly bits, swirls etc.

To the tip of the wand we added a lot of glue and added small beads (whilst the glue is still hot), or a magic crystal can be glued to the end, or a Skeleton head! Allow this to dry and then paint your wand in what ever colours you like. We used acrylics for this.
